This is the most amazing software I have used there are lots of features but the thing I like about Adobe Captivate is that it has got webcam feature which lets you connect with your learners affectively is very easy to use and the best thing that learners can easily navigate and see the learning calendar which helps in scheduling course while training. This app is used in my organization for connecting and training and trust me it has great features. Adobe products have very good interface including this software moreover you can customize courses as it suits you. This Software is interactive allowing the end user to simulate the software. The recording function is easy to use. Edits are simple. And As a registered Adobe user, I like the fact that I can create assets within the Adobe Creative Suite and then use them within Adobe Captivate LMS. The quality is very high in Adobe so I recommend the integration of Adobe assets with this LMS
  • Excellent Multi Tenanting configuration
  • can easily navigate
  • Difficulty using the function of setting up a menu
  • The pricing is expensive
  • Adobe Captivate Should give more than 30 days of trial
In my organization i have to make so many training courses and sessions and Adobe Captivate is simple software band it saves my times and energy and It is very easy to use and the best thing that I like is that learners can easily navigate and see the learning calendar which helps in scheduling course while training. The analytics in Adobe Captivate is helpful and I can set up user roles and permissions at six different levels, including Learner. It's very amazing and I can upload courses, videos, PowerPoint, PDF files and more and they show nicely using Adobe Captivate's Fluidic Player these features helped me save my time.

Courseware development that solves the training needs of multiple departments in the company.
  • Video insertions
  • Take-home license option
  • The top issue is with Adobe Captivate vaporware - several years of Adobe promises of updates. Adobe Captivate is still called "2019". I've reviewed the prototype on several occasions over the course of 2 years, yet nothing is coming to market.
  • Since Adobe dropped 360 view support in Photoshop, how are we supposed to edit 360 photos in Captivate? I feel this is very disappointing since Adobe Captivate's 360 feature is amazing. We've had to use non-Adobe products like Affinity to support the 360 feature.
  • Adobe Captivate courses frequently lock up in SumTotal LMS (SCORM 2004 v3), while other products like Articulate work flawlessly.
  • PowerPoint import is a big problem for us. In my experience, Adobe Captivate maintains hooks into the original PPT file, causing many problems and fails if the referenced PPT is updated or moved.
  • No easy way to darken previous bullets after they have passed to the next bullet unless we use complicated scripting.
  • Adobe Captivate is not part of Creative Suite, even though it depends on Creative Suite for many editing tools (imaging editing, video editing, etc.). It also makes licensing a challenge for the company.
  • In my opinion, the timeline is clunky and buggy, especially when adjusting the end position. Some blocks in the timeline jump around instead of moving and/or truncating with the end-point adjustments.
Well suited for developers who need a short learning curve and if using Adobe's LMS. Not appropriate if LMS is something other than Adobe's LMS.

I use Adobe Captivate to build customized eLearning for companies. Sometimes the units are for a wide audience such as for new hire orientation, while other times the lessons are for a small and specialized group of roles. It's been shown that when adult learners have some control over their progression, that they are more likely to engage with the material. So I strongly appreciate that I can use advanced features to build flexibility and user choices into the lessons. I also frequently use the multi-state potential of objects to visually show progression through a sequence.
  • Multi-state objects, changing states upon triggers helps make otherwise dry content much more dynamic.
  • I really appreciate that I can respond to knowledge check questions with visual feedback, audio feedback, or forced review of relevant slide.
  • I really, really appreciate that Captivate is very flexible and gives me control over so many aspects. I can be as creative as I want which helps me build more appealing lessons.
  • I appreciate that Adobe includes users in the feedback loop for new versions. But I would like for more explanation on new features, how to use, where feature parameters have been moved to, what features have been renamed to, etc.
  • Currently bulleted lists are animated as a block. If I want bullet points to animate synchronized with narration, then I have to create separate text blocks for each bullet. The end result is that copying my text from my notes is no more faster than typing. The workflow is either copy one short phrase and paste into a new text block vs typing the phrase. And then do the same thing for each bullet. (Sigh...)
  • I've had several situations where I'd like to have something travel on a path. For example, if I have a line graph, it would be nice to draw the line's path, but have it grow over a few seconds, or even haltingly. I once used an AA to show this, but it took quite a while to write it out (especially because writing it out is selecting each action from a drop down list). I had several states of the line graph and in each state I had the line grow another unit with a yellow highlight, proceeding down the line's path. So the AA sequence was delay by 1 second, change state to 2, delay by 1 second, change state to 3, delay... and on and on. The AA was a dozen or so lines long.
  • I saw a webinar a while back about lottie files. It seems that they could make a lesson more dynamic. Could Adobe add the ability to incorporate lotties into a lesson?
Captivate is well suited for instruction designers who want to build attractive, personalized, interactive, energetic lessons. It's also a good choice for someone who wants to build something innovative because Captivate gives the developer so much control over so many aspects.

But if someone wanted something built quickly, generically and didn't care about holding the viewer's attention, then Captivate might be an expensive tool. That person might be more satisfied with a cheaper and easier to learn authoring tool.

We use Adobe Captivate to create interactive video presentations. You can easily add video assets, build interactivity, and add assessment questions all in one application. Typical delivery includes publishing to a SCORM package and uploading to an LMS. Adobe Captivate allows us to expedite the content creation process by leveraging templates and saved actions to build out our eLearning solutions.
  • Easily add video to Captivate projects.
  • Program interactions without prior coding skills.
  • Target mobile devices with responsive layouts.
  • Responsive design programing could be expedited with premade widgets.
  • More finished templates and interactions.
  • Improved interface in line with other Adobe tools.
Adobe Captivate shines when creating true multimedia experiences - audio, video, and interactions. The timeline allows you to easily place content on each slide and visualize how the user will interact with each element over time. If you are trying to do simple quizzes or polling, Adobe Captivate may be the wrong tool when create this type of content.

We build interactive training available on-demand to our staff. In our industry it is often difficult to get staff together to attend an in-person training. Captivate allows us to build customized training that meets the needs of our organization that can be accessible when staff have the time. The courses we build touch everyone from executive leadership down to individual contributor level employees.
  • Integration with other Creative Cloud products.
  • Customization through advanced actions.
  • Stock assets.
  • Should always be responsive, like Articulate, without having to build with fluid boxes.

Adobe Captivate is our authoring tool for e-Learning. We use this to create e-Learning content to deploy to employed and non-employee staff.
  • Interactive learning.
  • Flexibility with Advanced Actions.
  • Access to assets.
  • More animation options.
  • Better text to voice options.
  • Responsive design is challenging to work with.
I love using Captivate - honestly the only thing I tell people is that they would want to be prepared to take a training on it like from ATD to maximize the use and to quickly adapt. They can't just pick it up and start using it.

I use it find learning solutions. I also teach workshops on it and like to add external web objects. I'm known for importing web and Animate files (OAM). I then use JavaScript to get the two objects to talk to each other.
  • Mobile development.
  • Exporting to HTML5.
  • Advanced Actions.
  • The built int JavaScript editor.
It's well suited for rapid development of eLearning. It's good that it works with an LMS well and can produce some nice looking content.

It does need some newer templates and the JavaScript window SUCKS. I tend to write the code else where and then paste it into the JS window.

We use Adobe Captivate to create eLearning modules to supplement/ replace instructor-led facilitation. We are working toward create a more hybrid learning experience that blends self-paced learning and instructor-led training. We are constantly faced with staffing issues on our front line. Having multi-day instructor-led courses creates a hardship for our employees and sometimes delays their ability to get the training they need.
  • The templates and assets make it easier to create a project, instead of having to start from scratch.
  • The ability to create interactive courses in Captivate is a great benefit.
  • The abundance of available resources helps users learn how to use the program.
  • I'm a new Captivate user. Learning how to create interactive courses has been difficult for me.
  • Captivate is not especially intuitive. It's almost intimidating for someone who doesn't have a lot of experience in creating elearning courses.
  • More templates and assets would be great.
  • I wish it was easier to customize the templates to fit the content.
My team and I primarily train front line employees that are customer facing. We have to teach them how to use various systems and programs to service the customer. Being able to use Captivate to simulate the customer experience with scenario based eLearning and the ability to simulate our systems to give our learners hands-on experience is a great benefit for us.

  • Has an extensive library.
  • Incorporates audio well.
  • Has lots of tools.

As an instructional designer I use Adobe Captivate to create for e-learning courses and creating videos. I really like the different tools and features it has. There are so many ways to use Adobe Captivate to make it learning fun and interactive especially when it comes to training staff in a remote setting. I hope to continue to learn the different tools I can use with Adobe Captivate and implement it in the trainings. Great tool to use, I would definitely recommend Adobe Captivate to anyone who is responsible for creating videos and learning tools in any field. It is easy to use and navigate.

I use Adobe Captivate to develop interactive courseware for courses that assist Airmen in getting qualified in their respective career fields for the Air Force. The software has proven to not be very intuitive and requires a large amount of programming capabilities in order to get it to function. We have found that the responsive aspect actually makes development more difficult, especially when utilizing the fluid boxes. It can also be rather glitchy when uploading in SCORM files. Due to security requirements we cannot use the associated assets due access issues.
  • The power of the software is very robust for the use of 360 photos.
  • It allows for more complex development.
  • It can easily be uploaded to any LMS.
  • The software is glitchy.
  • It it less intuitive to learn for novice users.
  • Requires more understanding of coding to get it to function.

We use Captivate to create integrative eLearning to include system simulations. We train users on many topic and systems with many personas. We have used it extensively to help with enterprise level software rollouts to train project teams, testers, support personnel, administrators, and end users.
  • Creates interactive, realistic simulations that are easy to maintain and update.
  • The structure makes it easier to troubleshoot issues in our code and quickly fix them.
  • It allows us to be creative and add super complex actions to do anything we can imagine.
  • Provides many out of the box interactions you can quickly tailor to your needs.
  • Provides a powerful tool to quickly implement even the most complex eLearning.
  • Interactive videos in Captivate are awesome!
  • Setting up Closed captioning and accessibility are easy with Captivate.
  • Adding some quick common actions such as the oob triggers in Storyline. This is minor but would be nice to have.
  • Add a way for newbies to quickly create their first project -- perhaps with a guided tour option that creates a simple set of slides.
  • More modern interface.

We use Adobe Captivate to create software simulations training but we do not use the video simulations as recording is blocked by our ISO. We have a variety of software for servicing mortgages and consumer loans, so most of our training is software training. We do have some industry knowledge type training we offer as well.
  • Awesome graphic editing features like round-tripping from Adobe Captivate to Photoshop is a huge time saver.
  • The QuickStart slides are an amazing time saver.
  • The library functionality is very useful as well.
  • Ability to crop photos into shapes other than squares/rectangles would be useful.
  • Ability to preview just one slide or from any slide in scaled HTML5 format.
Adobe Captivate is well suited for software training. Even though we do not use the software simulation recording feature, we simulate the environment with screenshots and then roundtrip into Photoshop to make edits to a screenshot For example, they added 3 new fields and it affects 25 different slides in the course. I dummy up the 3 new fields in Photoshop, copy the layers with the new fields, flatten and save the screenshot and it's instantly updated in Abode Captivate. I then locate the next slide that needs the same new fields added and round trip into Photoshop and then I just select Paste in Place and flatten and save. The alignment is perfect and the screenshots never leave Adobe Captivate. I had a course that I had to do this to with about 25 slides and it was easy peasy.

Adobe Captivate enables our software tutorial simulation training using scenario-based training. Allowing our learners to utilize the training in a "real-world" training environment provides numerous benefits including minimizing errors in the field and cutting down on training times. Captivate's versatile development capabilities also allow us to use this tool for video-based training for soft skills, sales, and other training initiatives.
  • Software training simulations
  • Video-based courses and quizzes
  • Assessment creation and evaluation
  • Integration of JS to expand training possibilities
  • Responsive projects
Adobe Captivate can be utilized for a wide variety of training courses. The software enables basic course content creation to allow for rapid-learning development and excels at advanced and complex course creation. The capabilities of Adobe Captivate are only limited to the user's working knowledge and his/her own creativity. If you are focused on only creating basic interactions, rapid learning, or text-only courses, perhaps another tool may be best suited for this.

We use Adobe Captivate to author all of our e-Learning courses. Specifically, we use Adobe Captivate to create SCORM shells that contain multiple slides and videos, and we use it for the interactive assessment options such as interactive video, hot spot assessments, knowledge checks, etc.. We use Adobe Captivate to meet needs for knowledge share, skill training, and behavior leaning.
  • Interactivity.
  • Assessment.
  • Advanced actioning.
  • LMS compatibility.
  • The asset design is dated.
  • Functions are not intuitive for new users.
  • Troubleshooting variables, advanced actions, and coding can be challenging.
Adobe Captivate is well-suited for scenario-based learning and assessment. For example, you can program text boxes and have the learners complete real problems and input real information, which is very helpful. I also think Adobe Captivate is great with embedding videos. There are several options including slide and event videos, embedded films from YouTube, closed captioning and accessibility, and interactive video and slide overlays.

I have used Adobe Captivate to develop online content for our college courses by linking it to our learning management system.
  • Create directed learning pathways for students based on their needs.
  • Integration with other Adobe products.
  • The interactivity of content.
  • Could be more intuitive.
  • Better starting point (i.e., rather than building content from scratch, it would be great to have a library of templates to pull from.
  • Needs more frequent feature updates.
Adobe Captivate can be a powerful tool when used alongside other Adobe products. Furthermore, the seamless connection with Adobe's LMS is a nice bonus. Conversely, integration between Adobe Captivate outputs and LMS' (e.g., Canvas) leaves much to be desired. That being said, LMS integration is on-par with its competitors (e.g., Storyline360). Lastly, it has improved accessibility i.e., section 508 compliant outputs would greatly expand my ability to use Adobe Captivate in my organization.

We use Adobe Captivate to create training content and add training material to our LMS. We do not use it daily, but we use it often enough for our team to be familiar with how to use it. The only issue I have is how it can be a bit complicated for beginners.

Adobe Captivate is great for simplicity and access. I wish it was free. It is great for video training, material editing, and documents. Use it for building web-based training. SCORMed for a Moodle LMS. Business problems are it has fallen behind in functionality. Looking forward to seeing what Charm has to offer in the pretest today. We need to program a lot of behind-the-scenes functionality to do our quizzes and interactions the way we need to. We would like to add animations from ANimate, but the OEM file doesn't work well in Adobe Captivate. Layering a GIF file is complicated too. The VR capability is extremely limited and clunky. Hoping Charm will integrate more with other Adobe CC products like AE, AN, CH, PR, etc. Also, hoping 508 accessibility ALT text, CC, and the tab order is much easier than Adobe Captivate 2019. It would be nice to have MP4 CC editable and use the industry standard file type to import the CC test into Adobe Captivate instead of hand typing it. We do gov contracts, and 508 is super important. We would love to meld animation into Adobe Captivate, but AE doesn't seem to export a format for Adobe Captivate. Hoping Charm will help here. My ISDs want to jump off to Articulate, so keeping my fingers crossed for Charm.
  • Advanced Actions
  • Reading active text on screen
  • TTS and Closed caption with Notes
  • Text input
  • Masters
  • Color input
  • Bullets animation (as like in PPT) in one text box, not one each bullet.
  • Import animations from AE or CP easier. OEM files don't play well with layers or advanced actions.
  • Accessibility, 508 compliance could be easier.
  • Import Closed captioning created in Premier using the standard industry file format.
  • VR and 360 function is not 508 compliant.
  • Option to Keep ALT text if updating an image instead of having to replace it. Retyping it is annoying.
  • Option to Keep CC applied to a video file if it needs updating. Retyping it is annoying.
  • Move asset button away from the library panel. We click it when the library window closes.
  • Make updating images as easy as it is for InDesign. Replacing images in Adobe Captivate is difficult. Took me 3 years to figure it out. And it doesn't always work using the "replace" button in the library.
  • Make updating PPT easier. It only works some of the time. And relinking it doesn't always work. It is very clunky and touchy when sharing files with other users.
Adobe Captivate 2019 is well suited for standard web-based training. We do mostly page-turners. Branching has gotten easier but still can be complicated to program. Then If you want to do anything fancy like animations, it is less accommodating. Advanced actions only go so far - AE and AN don't play easily in Adobe Captivate. We want to move into more current trends for designing WBTs but find Adobe Captivate right now cannot handle the new trends in design and animation. Hoping Charm will bridge this gap.

I create eLearning for corporate and operating company employees.
  • It allows me to create my own ideas without using templates.
  • It works well with other Creative Cloud software so that I can create beautiful slides.
  • It does what you tell it to do. If it doesn't behave the way you expect, it's almost always a user error. Once you learn how to use it, you have lots of control.
  • It's a steep learning curve for new users.
  • Learning curve is so steep, those who aren't tech savvy won't even try to learn.

We use Adobe Captivate to create eLearning content and courses for technical training. Captivate enables us to create and deliver relevant training to a variety of audiences.
  • It makes producing SCORM-compliant content relatively easy.
  • It does not allow for multiple videos within a slide.
  • It requires programming expertise for intermediate to advanced functions.
  • It can be clunky and non-intuitive.
  • It does not feature dynamic text resizing.
  • The current version does not integrate with other Adobe products.
While Adobe Captivate can be difficult for beginning to intermediate content developers, I would recommend it to advanced eLearning developers interested in elevating their training content.
